As our spring term begins, we're still feeling the excitement from our January Taster Course, where we were delighted to welcome TEN new members into Hallmark of Harmony!

Despite a snowy delay, we were thrilled when over 30 people signed up, with 25 attending the very first evening. Over the course of four weeks, our guests learned two new barbershop songs, culminating in a performance for friends and family at Wesley Hall — a truly memorable evening for everyone involved.

From the first night, with name tags and music folders at the ready, our guests were warmly welcomed into the Hallmark community. Each rehearsal was followed by time spent in the pub — the perfect opportunity to connect, chat, and enjoy the spirit of barbershop camaraderie.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the taster course a success: to Joe for leading the marketing efforts, Shirley for organising materials and logistics, our music team of Rob, Jonny, and Sam for their expert direction, and of course, to all the chorus members who helped create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for our guests.

On reflection, we were absolutely blown away with the talent and work ethic of the prospective members, who quickly learned two fairly difficult songs in only 3 weeks – often quicker than the regular Hallmark members! Thank you to everyone who came along: you brought a real energy and enthusiasm to the rehearsal room that reminded us how special singing barbershop can be.
